If you’re anything like me, traveling is something that you put a lot of time and thought into preparing for. You plan your itinerary and dream of the sites you’ll see… and photograph.

You have visions of returning home with hundreds of stunning pictures to wow your friends with and hang on your wall – what a photographic opportunity!

The reality of travel photography can sometimes be quite different to those dreams.

One of the most common emails that I get as editor of a photography site is from people just returned from traveling with images that they’re bitterly disappointed in – snapshots that fail to capture the experiences and sites you have while traveling.

When professional travel photographer Mitchell Kanashkevich approached me about producing a travel photography eBook together I jumped at the opportunity to work with him – it was a chance to help many readers realize their travel photography dreams.

Today we’re launching the book that Mitchell has been working on for months – Transcending Travel: A Guide to Captivating Travel Photography.

If you’ve been reading Mitchell’s posts over the last two days (here and here) that explore mistakes travel photographers make you’ll have seen some of the powerful travel photography that Mitchell has produced and will be familiar with his style – he’s a guy who knows what he’s talking about and who is passionate about helping others achieve their potential.

You can read all the details about the Transcending Travel eBook here – but worth noting is that for those who buy it in the first week we have some great bonuses:

Bonus 1: 25% off the purchase price. Normally $19.97, this week you can pick it up for just $14.97 USD.

Bonus 2: 10% off your next camera/gear purchase on DigitalRev (conditions apply).

Bonus 3: 15% off your next camera or lens rental – we’ve teamed with ProPhotoRental to offer this (US residents only).

Bonus 4: the chance to win one of two great camera bags from Think Tank Photo (worth over $600)

To get all of the conditions of these bonuses and order your copy for instant download – head over to our Transcending Travel page.

Trade body PMA has announced its show will move to September in 2011 and be open to the public for the first time. Traditionally held in the first quarter of the year, the show is being moved to fit with product release and buying periods, following a quiet 2010 show. Its spring scheduling brought it into competition with the CES electronics show (which Canon chose to attend in preference in 2010), which will be avoided with its September 8-10 2011 slot. A September date in 2012 would risk overlapping with the larger Photokina show in Europe, however. For the first time, the show will officially open its doors to members of the public, with enthusiasts able to attend on Saturday September 10th.
